Birch Foundation Community Outreach – Supporting People Doing It Tough on the Gold Coast

20 August 2026

By Shone Benjamin

Through our Gold Coast community outreach programs, our team and volunteers regularly support people experiencing homelessness, financial hardship and other challenging circumstances.

Our outreach currently operates:

  • Monday – Surfers Paradise
  • Wednesday – Southport
  • Fortnightly – Nerang

At each outreach, Birch Foundation provides free clothing and basic essential items to people who need a helping hand.

Helping People Experiencing Homelessness on the Gold Coast

For people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, accessing clean clothing and everyday essentials can be difficult.

Birch Foundation takes practical support directly into local Gold Coast communities, helping make essential items easier to access for people doing it tough.

Our outreach is also about human connection.

Our volunteers take the time to talk, listen without judgement and treat every person with dignity and respect.

Sometimes a simple conversation and knowing that somebody cares can be just as important as the practical assistance provided.

Community Outreach in Surfers Paradise, Southport and Nerang

Every Monday in Surfers Paradise, our outreach team connects with people who may be experiencing homelessness or hardship.

Every Wednesday in Southport, we continue that mission by providing free clothing, basic essentials and support to members of the community doing it tough.

We also provide fortnightly community outreach in Nerang, allowing Birch Foundation to reach and support people in another part of the Gold Coast community.

Every person's circumstances are different. Some people we meet may be sleeping rough, while others have accommodation but are struggling financially to afford everyday necessities.

Whatever their circumstances, we believe everyone deserves to be treated with compassion and respect.

Free Clothing and Basic Essentials for People in Need

Donations from the community allow Birch Foundation to provide practical assistance directly to people who need it.

Quality donated clothing and essential items can make a genuine difference to someone experiencing hardship.

Instead of allowing useful items to go to waste, we work to get them into the hands of people who can use them.

Every donation, volunteer hour and contribution helps us continue our homelessness and community outreach across the Gold Coast.

Volunteers Making a Difference on the Gold Coast

Our outreach programs would not be possible without the commitment of our volunteers, donors, local businesses and community supporters.

Whether someone donates clothing, gives their time as a volunteer or financially supports Birch Foundation, every contribution helps us continue reaching people across Surfers Paradise, Southport, Nerang and the wider Gold Coast.

Together, we can provide practical assistance while helping people feel seen, respected and connected to their community.

Bringing Hope Morning, Noon and Night

At the heart of Birch Foundation is our message:

“Bringing Hope Morning, Noon and Night.”

For us, it is more than a slogan. It represents our commitment to showing up for people in our community when they are going through difficult times.

We may not be able to solve every challenge someone is facing, but we can provide clothing. We can provide basic essentials. We can listen. We can show kindness.

Most importantly, we can remind someone that they matter and they have not been forgotten.

Birch Foundation – Bringing Hope Morning, Noon and Night.
